NYRR Foundation Youth Jamboree

March 21, 2009

The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in Washington Heights buzzed with energy, enthusiasm, and ability last Saturday as kids aged 4 to 15 competed in the NYRRF Youth Jamboree Track & Field & Wellness Event.

The 55-meter dash for 4-year-olds gave the youngest kids a chance to join the fun.

Runners leapt off the line at the sound of the gun.

Youngsters in every manner of dress toed the start line.

Proud 55-meter dash competitors posed for the cameras.

Justin hurled himself with abandon into the long jump pit.

Seven and 8-year-olds took their marks in another 55-meter dash.

Only 5 or 6 years old, these runners already know how to push the pace..

Parents, teachers, and coaches cheered the kids on.

Good form was essential on the super-fast banked turns.

Close races produced all-out efforts.

Derek executed excellent form on his long jump.

These kids know how motivating healthy competition can be.

The NYRR Foundation establishes running programs in underserved schools…

…and teaches youth how to stick to goals until they achieve them.

The fans were just as ecstatic as the young participants.

4x200-meter relays taught kids how to work together.

Congratulating the competition was an important part of the day.

Posing with their ribbons, these girls celebrated their fitness.

Team for Kids members posed for podium pictures with the kids who inspire them.

This adorable youngster was overjoyed to help set up the ribbon table.
