Shawanda Weems

Shawanda Weems has led an outstanding Young Runners program at PS/MS 15 for almost five years. Like many of our Champions, her dedication to both her team and NYRR Youth Programs is tremendous. In their navy blue PS/MS 15 hoodie sweatshirts, she and the Jaguars are a fixture at track meets, road races, and other NYRR events. Shawanda is a fierce advocate of youth running and fitness and also established a successful Mighty Milers program at her school. Shawanda’s extraordinary dedication extends beyond the school year. Last summer, she brought her students to the International Children’s Games in San Francisco; this summer, they’ll participate in Athens, Greece.
