Accomplishments:
• Grete was in the first group of women allowed to run in a distance race at the Olympics.
• She broke world records in the 3000m, 8k, 10k, 15k, 10 miles, and the marathon!
• She won the ING New York City Marathon nine times.
Fun Facts:
• Grete was recently honored by King Harald of Norway who gave her the Royal Norwegian Knight of St. Olavs order for being an excellent athlete and role model. She is only the third athlete to get it since 1847. Â
• Grete works closely with New York Road Runners youth programs.
