Run for the Future
Now in its second year, Run for the Future helps young women new to running get healthy and save for college. Students meet three times a week from July 7 to August 25 to train with NYRR coaches for the Harlem 5K Run and Walk on August 25, learn about social justice issues, and plan and implement a service project that addresses a health barrier affecting their communities. Participants who complete the 8-week program and maintain at least 80% attendance at practices earn a $1,000 college scholarship.
Eligibility
Young women are eligible to apply for the NYRR Run for the Future if:· They live in New York City.
· They will be a senior at a public or parochial high school in New York City during the 2012-2013 school year.
· They plan on attending an accredited two- or four-year institution in Fall 2013.
How to Apply
Application materials are due by April 30, 2012.Click here for the print application or apply online. The application consists of a short form, a 250-word essay, and a recommendation. Regardless of how you apply, the recommendation must be sent to us in hard copy from an adult who knows you well but is not a relative, such as a teacher, counselor, or employer.You can e-mail your application to youthprograms@nyrr.org or mail them to:
