Developmental Track & Field Series
The Developmental Track & Field Series is a comprehensive spring program for kids of all athletic abilities in grades 3–8 currently attending New York City public schools. Students will learn about and develop active lifestyles through the running, throwing, and jumping events that comprise track and field. This program is great for schools that have running teams, a group of students eager to try a new sport, or an enthusiastic coach-teacher who loves to get kids moving.
Started in 2004, DTFS is free for all New York City public schools and is a collaborative partnership between the NYC Department of Education’s Office of School Wellness Programs, New York Road Runners, and Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation.
Schools that participate in DTFS receive:
- Expert training clinics and guidance from New York Road Runners
- A complete youth coaching program with equipment for new DTFS school sites
- Spots for students to compete in spring meets throughout the five boroughs
- Opportunity for one-on-one coaching session with a NYRR specialist at your school
…ALL FOR FREE!
